Lejwe La Metsi
PROJECT   Images
One hour north of the economic hub of Gauteng and 10 minutes from Bela Bela in the dramatic landscape of the Waterberg lies the Lejwe la Metsi private reserve. The existing game farm is to be converted to a private residential estate incorporating an Ernie Els Signature Golf Course within the nature reserve. As experts in environmentally sensitive projects, Co- Arc International were appointed as urban designers to conceive the overall concept for the estate and to develop the masterplan and guidelines for development.
Extensive research of the market and analysis of the environment led to a scheme which allows the development to take place in a sensitive and sustainable manner. Each site in the residential development is integrated with the golf course into the bush and landscape in such a way as to maximize the dramatic views available on this unique site. Careful consideration of topography, sight lines and aspect enabled a development of a residential estate of 718 residential sites each of which is hidden from the neighbors and from which, views of golf course and natural bush are uninterrupted. The dramatic 4 level clubhouse is designed to be tucked just below the ridge line and has been carefully positioned between all the major trees and the ridge. Stone harvested on site is used as the primary material.
