Eye of Africa Golf Estate

Co-Arc were appointed for the urban design and architectural realization of all the key buildings for the Eye of-Africa golf estate, incorporating a Greg Norman signature golf course south of Johannesburg.
The architectural guidelines developed by Co-Arc International Architects are structured to break with the culture of themed environments and offer instead an appropriate, environmentally sustainable, contemporary architecture, modern and sophisticated, while blending with the scenic beauty of rolling highveld grassland and ridges.
The Gate House for the Eye of Africa has been completed.  Designed in a modern idiom intended to compliment the natural landscape and reflect an understated sophistication, the building is composed primarily of off-shutter concrete and local slate.  Consistent with Co-Arc’s philosophy of environmental sustainability, the slate was selected in the clean up operation of a defunct, adjacent stone quarry.  The use of renewable timber roofing elements and pigmented plasters in horizontal planes, contrasts the existing exotic pine plantation that defines the entrance and provides an elegant understated Gate House.  Co-Arc were selected by International Golf Estate Developers, Medallist, to compliment the Greg Norman Designed course, as the Urban Designers and Architects for the Estate.  The first of the show homes designed in terms of the estate guidelines have commenced construction.
